2026 Traffic Fines in Turkey | Updated Traffic Penalties & Antalya Driving Guide
Traffic fines in Türkiye are designed to improve road safety, protect drivers and pedestrians, and reduce accidents. In 2026, significant changes have been introduced to several traffic penalties, particularly for speeding, red-light violations, drink-driving, dangerous driving, and other serious traffic offences.
On 27 February 2026, important amendments to the Turkish Highway Traffic Law came into effect. These changes significantly increased penalties for certain violations and introduced a new system for speeding offences.
In this guide, we explain the 2026 traffic fines in Turkey, the new speeding penalty system, and important information for drivers travelling in Antalya.
Important Changes to Traffic Fines in 2026
One of the most important changes in 2026 concerns speeding offences.
Under the new system, speeding penalties are no longer based only on percentage increases over the speed limit. Different penalty levels are now applied according to how many kilometres per hour the speed limit is exceeded, with separate rules for roads inside and outside built-up areas.
For serious speeding offences, drivers may also face the temporary withdrawal of their driving licence.

🚦 Red-Light Fines in Turkey
Red-light violations are among the traffic offences subject to increased penalties in 2026.
The basic fine for running a red light is TRY 5,000.
Repeated offences within the relevant period can result in progressively higher fines:
1st violation → TRY 5,000
2nd violation → TRY 10,000
3rd violation → TRY 15,000
4th violation → TRY 20,000
5th violation → TRY 30,000
6th violation → TRY 80,000
Repeated violations may also result in the temporary withdrawal of the driver's licence.
For this reason, drivers should always pay close attention to traffic lights, road signs, and pedestrian crossings, particularly in busy tourist destinations such as Antalya.
🍷 Drink-Driving Fines in Turkey
Driving under the influence of alcohol is one of the most serious traffic offences because it can put the driver, passengers, pedestrians, and other road users at significant risk.
Under the 2026 regulations, the fines for drink-driving have increased substantially:
1st offence → TRY 25,000
2nd offence → TRY 50,000
3rd and subsequent offences → TRY 150,000
Additional penalties, including the temporary withdrawal of the driving licence, may also apply.
Never drink and drive. If you are planning to consume alcohol, arrange alternative transportation and do not drive.
🚗 Dangerous Driving, Drifting and Illegal Manoeuvres
Dangerous driving behaviours such as drifting, aggressive manoeuvres, and other actions that put road users at risk are subject to serious penalties.
In 2026, drifting and similar dangerous driving offences can result in fines of approximately TRY 46,000, together with additional sanctions such as the temporary withdrawal of the driving licence.
Drivers should also avoid dangerous lane changes, aggressive overtaking, and sudden manoeuvres that could endanger other road users.
